Sweet and spicy roasted nuts are my favorite recipe for homemade roasted nuts. They are so delicious that you shouldn’t miss this recipe. They are not only my favorites but my family’s too.
I like to make them from early autumn to late spring. When I make them in the summer, I remove the cinnamon from the recipe, because then it is time for fresh food and fresh tastes, and it is a bit weird for the house to smell like Christmas. But for winter, cinnamon is just a must.
Our family loves mixed nuts, so I use them. You can make only one type, pecan, cashew, almonds or whatever you prefer. It’s easier if you bake only one kind of nuts because they are cooked for the same amount of time. When the nuts are a mix, you should very often watch them, because some of them bake faster and can get toasted. Here’s how I make these roasted nuts.
How to Make Sweet and Spicy Roasted Nuts
• 3 cups of mixed raw nuts
• 2 egg whites
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
Stir well in a bowl of dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites and mix with the nuts. Stir carefully until all nuts are covered with egg whites. Then add the dry ingredients to them and mix again.
Spread all of the nuts on some baking paper. Place them in the oven and cook until ready. Even when the nuts are baking, the whole house smells very pleasantly.
Remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. The flavor and taste of these sweet and spicy roasted nuts are irresistible. I’m sure they’ll be your favorites too. They are easy to prepare and with a unique taste.
